Emilia Ortiz got her start sketching worlds of color from her grandmother’s kitchen table. Since her humble beginnings, she’s painted, collaged, crocheted, and molded visions of her electric imagination, frequently drawing inspiration from her community. Under the alias Alaskakidd, Emilia Ortiz has displayed her work across numerous galleries in the Inland Empire. When she’s not live painting at open mics and exhibitions, Emilia is educating the next generation of artists through the DA, a non-profit art center in the heart of Pomona. Through her surrealist style, Emilia Ortiz teaches students and admirers of her art how to envision and empower the worlds they come from.
