Esteban Orozco
Art Leader • (He/Him)
Esteban Orozco is a self taught artist from Pomona California. His preferred form of expression is but not limited to surrealism, with his weapon of choice being acrylic paint. Surrealism naturally came to him. Being able to create worlds that resemble dreams or memories etc. An escape, after all that's what art is. An exit door into a world of endless possibilities. Something necessary In this world when you see and are exposed to the very things that destroy us. As a kid I always liked drawing until after high school I started working with canvas. Canvas and brushes are the initial mediums of my creativity but I am now expanding those limitations, murals being a prime example. Art is a special way to express what can’t be put into words by a limited vocabulary. My art allows people to experience different emotions and the vast interpretations that lie within it. I hope that people can feel as though they are on vacation from reality. My work exposes people to the raw emotions that are inside of every living being. I want to be a great artist. “Art is magic. I have seen it work wonders not just in my personal life, but around me. Imagine a world without art, how gray and dull it must be. Not a world for me. Going to school was a nightmare. An outcast with only one escape. And that escape was and still is art. We didn’t have any art programs like the ones The dA now brings to PUSD. If they did, my life would have turned out way differently. That thought makes me cry at times. Souls against a machine, art is a remedy that is necessary. Times are tougher now. Kids of Pomona are being exposed to the dirt and grime at a younger age. We have to protect the youth and keep their creative innocence intact. Art is the way. Open the door to creativity and endless imagination and fight the winds of corruption that want to keep it shut. Art is the question and the answer. Art is everywhere. Art is everything. The kids of Pomona need art, Their life depends on it.” Esteban has been involved at The dA since 2019. He has installed over 25 art exhibitions and as a community art activist, he has helped to create several murals.
