Nadia Solis Valdez
Art Leader • (She/Her)
Nadia Solis Valadez (she/her) is a Chicana multidisciplinary artist with an engineering background and a passion for what she believes are two parts of a whole- science and art. Her artist name is Zaraegis and has been used all over social media to document her art progress. Since childhood, Nadia's been drawing with any media she could get her hands on and as an adult has only refined her study of materials that interest her. She thrives in telling stories using comics, animations and interactive-fiction games. Sketching the world around her has been her biggest inspiration in her studies, and a lot of her favored traditional materials (pens, inks, gouache and watercolors) work great for such plein air work. When she's not working a night shift or taking commissions, Nadia is a teaching artist with the dA Center for the Arts, happy to help the children of Pomona's schools demystify the basics of art and finetune skills able to be used in all parts of their life. As a self-taught artist, she firmly believes in art being a skill able to be taught to everyone who has the discipline and courage to learn it, not just as a mythological talent few are born with.
