Michael Willard, PhD

Michael Willard is a Professor and Chair in the Department of Liberal Studies at California State University Los Angeles where he has worked for 20 years. Before that he was Assistant Professor and Director of American Studies at Oklahoma State University and a Lecturer at Cal State Fullerton. He has a PhD in American Studies from the University of Minnesota and a Certificate in Higher Education Leadership and Administration from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. He has a BA in English from UCLA with an emphasis on African American Literature. He has taught courses on Community Arts in Los Angeles, Sports, Popular Culture, Los Angeles History, and Public Humanities and Community Learning.
