Katia Avila Pinedo

Katia Avila Pinedo is a proud product of PUSD. During her time at Garey High School, she was part of the Garey InvenTeam that received a US patent (11382564) for their invention “The Heart & Sole”. Her invention journey inspired her to become a spokesperson for invention education at webinars, panels, and conferences. She recently graduated from UC Santa Cruz with a bachelor's degree in Computer Networks and Digital Technology. Katia calls herself an engineer with a passion for education and a love for learning. She has tutored in 6th to 12th-grade math classrooms, facilitated student MESA science projects, and peer-mentored college engineering students. She also identifies as a violinist, a self-sustainable homesteader, and a crafter. Katia began interning at The dA Center for the Arts in August 2025 as an instructor in the youth mariachi program. She looks forward to working with and learning from our community’s new generation of creative innovators through music and art.
