The painting course is designed with flexibility and individual artistic growth in mind. The studio provides an instruction-based painting environment in which students can choose and carry out their own assignments, exploring a variety of techniques in acrylics and/or oils under the instructor’s guidance.
We welcome developing artists, ages 15 and up. No previous painting experience is required.
Class cost may be purchased by the session or a group of 10 sessions can be purchased at a discount.
Class: Saturday, 2 pm 5 pm, Ages 15 and up, Instructor: Angel Villanueva, Fee $15.00 per session. Pay up-font for 10 sessions and the fee is $120.00. Advanced payment will encourage you to come to class. Please note that there are no REFUNDS. You can register and pay online, or just come in on Saturday.
Materials: Students must supply their own art supplies.
We will be painting on canvas. Stretched canvas is preferred for formal projects, canvas sheets taped to a solid substrate are a great for exercises. Recommended canvas size for beginners is 12” x 16/18”.
Each student may require different brush sets depending on their goals. We recommend starting with
flat shader brushes; Golden Taklon brushes for oil paint, Bristle for Acrylics, in an assortment of sizes, as well as small and medium fan brushes.
Starter set should include the following:
- Titanium White
- Ivory Black
- Cadmium Red Hue*
- Cadmium Yellow Hue*
- Phtalo Blue
- Phtalo Green
- Raw Umber
Other pigments will be recommended on an individual basis.
Note: do NOT buy, or use in class, the actual Cadmium‐pigment paint, as it is highly toxic and requires special handling. The fake one (It’ll read “Hue”) is just fine.
