dA Studio Art Classes

Dynamic Pose Drawing Workshop (1st and 3rd Sunday): Sharpen your drawing skills by working with costumed models and props

Life Drawing/ Painting Ongoing Sessions (Mondays and Thursdays): These intimate life drawing sessions allow you to draw the human figure at your own pace. Uninstructed.

Studio Art Lab (Monday,Tuesday and Thursday): Special Needs Adults-General Public Welcome. Students work with  professional artists  to explore painting, drawing, collage and clay. Individuals work at their pace to grow individually and collectively. The last day of session culminates in a special exhibition of the students works for their family and friends.

Dear Imagination – Ages 6-12 (Wednesday): Students work individually and collaboratively and use the arts as a way to explore current issues and how all the arts give a voice to bring about social justice. Drawing, painting, clay, paper maché, poetry, music, video, and theatre are all used to explore and develop self expression.  Students will participate in the Cesar Chavez March on April 14, 2018 in Pomona.

Drawing Class (Thursday): Come join a classic core studio arts class. Students will explore drawing and portfolio prep. The class is designed for ages 12 years and older.

 Painting Studio (Thursday and Saturday): The studio provides an instruction-based painting environment and explores a variety of techniques in acrylics and/or oils under the instructor’s guidance.

TGIF- Studio Art Party (21 and older):  Ceramics, Painting, and refreshments to unwind

 Clay for Adults (Saturday): Make tiles, coil pots, figures, vases, pinch pots, anything you want, with as much or as little help as you need!

Clay for Kids (Saturday): Primarily for children with accompanying adult, an introduction to  the techniques of clay.

 

Music and Dance

Music and Movement Studio ( Monday,Tuesday, Thursday): – Special Needs Adults – Public Welcome- Students work in the studio with a professional artists to explore painting, drawing, collage,  and clay . Individuals work at their own pace to grow individually and collectively.  The last day of each session culminates in a special exhibition of the students works for their family and friends.

dA Dance Folklorico (Monday and Wednesday):  Ages 4-Adult Students learn traditional Mexican dances.

dA Voices Children’s Choir (Monday): Ages 6 -18 Students work with a professional musician learning songs of social justice

 

Literary Workshops

Mic and Dim Lights: 1st Thursday of the month @ 9:pm

Society of Book Writers & Illustrators Schmooze Night: 3rd Wednesday of every other month @7:00 pm

Dope Spot Studios:  4th Monday of every month @ 7:00 pm

dA Write Club: Participants simply write, while hang out to bounce ideas off each other.

 

CLASSES and WORKSHOPS

The mission of the dA Center for the Arts, a diverse, multi-discipline, non-profit organization is to enhance the quality of life for the greater community by educating and providing opportunities to experience, appreciate and support the arts. The dA believes that providing an avenue for self-expression for all ages and all populations is essential in bridging the distance from alienation to community.

One way we achieve this goal is by providing classes and workshops in a variety of medians that provide individual choice in expressing their artistic interests.
